What’s happening to Windows 10 version 1507?
From 9th May 2017, Windows 10 devices running version 1507 will no longer receive security and quality updates.
The following editions are affected:
- Home
- Pro
- Education
- Enterprise
Since its release in July 2015, Microsoft has released two feature updates that build upon each other, delivering new features and comprehensive security. For most people, these quality and feature updates are delivered automatically according to the Windows Update settings.
Microsoft policies state that all devices need to install feature updates within 60 days of their release to be eligible for monthly servicing with security and quality updates. This period was extended for version 1507 beyond 60-days. Microsoft have announced that from 9th May 2017 they will stop servicing version 1507.
How to check which version you have
You can check which version of Windows 10 you have by typing “winver” in your search box and pressing enter. This will open the ‘About Windows’ dialog box where you will see which version of Windows 10 you have running on your device.
If your version is listed as 10.0, Microsoft recommend updating your device to the latest version, which you can install here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Microsoft recommend that you update your device to the latest version of Windows 10. You can do this by following this link and clicking ‘Update now’.

What will happen if you continue to use Windows 10, version 1507?
Your computer will still work, but you may become vulnerable to security risks and viruses as you will not be receiving security or quality updates.

Security updates will continue to be made available for both Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2015 LTSB.
